Often there is hesitation, anxiety, curiosity, hope, doubt, or simply exhaustion from carrying things alone for too long.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I offer a free first session because I believe people should have space to decide whether therapy feels right before making a financial commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You should not have to pay first and then discover afterwards that the conversation did not feel safe, useful, or comfortable enough to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the first session is for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first session is a chance for us to talk and get a sense of whether the work feels like a good fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can speak about what has brought you to therapy, what you may be struggling with, what you hope for, or even your uncertainty about starting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need to explain everything perfectly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no expectation to arrive with a prepared story or a clear psychological explanation of yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most people begin somewhere in the middle of confusion, emotion, contradiction, or not really knowing where to start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the session is like<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session is an ordinary therapeutic conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are no tricks, tests, or pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can ask questions about how I work, the kind of therapy I offer, confidentiality, online sessions, or anything else that feels important to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Part of the purpose of the session is also for you to notice how you feel within the conversation itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do you feel heard?<br>Do you feel able to speak openly enough?<br>Does the work feel thoughtful, respectful, and safe enough to continue exploring?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those things matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You are free to decide<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the session, there is no obligation to continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You are free to take time to think about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therapy works best when it is entered willingly, not through pressure, guilt, persuasion, or emotional dependency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes the fit is right.<br>Sometimes it is not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If we continue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If we both feel the work may be useful, we can arrange ongoing sessions together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can also discuss practical things such as session frequency, fees, availability, and how online therapy works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online sessions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sessions take place online using a secure video platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A reasonably private space<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A stable internet connection<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A device with video and audio<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enough privacy and uninterrupted time for the session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further information about online therapy and confidentiality can be found here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Online Therapy and Safety]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A final thought<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need to convince me that your difficulties are serious enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If something is affecting your life, your relationships, your sense of self, or your emotional wellbeing, that is enough reason to talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes the hardest part is simply beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[Contact]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Starting therapy can feel like a big step.
